Portiragnes-Plage in the south of France hosted the 11th annual Festival du Vent (Festival of Wind) this past weekend, drawing dozens of kite enthusiasts and spectators to the coast.
The event featured a wide array of creative kite designs, from manta rays and teddy bears to spaceships and a large blue whale. Among the displays were inflated figures including iguanas, crocodiles, and gorillas. A dedicated 'heroes village' showcased large inflatable characters such as Deadpool, Spiderman, Captain America, and Batman, which captivated younger attendees.
A competition recognized kite flyers for their technical skill, creativity, and mastery. Festivalgoers also engaged in sand sculpting, creating castles and figures on the beach. A wind garden featuring smaller rotating kites was also on display.
Beyond the aerial displays, the festival offered acrobatic performances, creative workshops, and water sports. The town's Facebook page described the event as "a magnificent show where kites dance together over the beach of Portiragnes!"
