The Chase star Anne Hegerty has shared an unnerving experience with an overzealous fan, which she compared to the events depicted in the Netflix series "Baby Reindeer." The popular quiz show host recalled an incident from 2012, shortly after "The Chase" began to gain traction.

Hegerty described how a woman she had befriended "got her wires crossed," leading the fan to move from London to Manchester and settle just three streets away from Hegerty's home. At the time, "Nobody knew who we were," Hegerty stated, adding that she was initially trying to be amicable. "But people can overstep, especially if you're not used to having to set boundaries."

While Hegerty was able to gradually distance herself from the fan, the experience prompted her to be more cautious about new acquaintances. She told The Sun that while the situation was "similar to Baby Reindeer, but not as bad," she remains Facebook friends with the individual.

"Baby Reindeer," which stars Richard Gadd as a comedian and bartender, details his life being disrupted by relentless stalking. The series has drawn attention for its portrayal of obsessive fan behavior.

In other personal revelations, Hegerty addressed rumors of a secret husband during an appearance on the British talk show "Loose Women." She clarified that her Wikipedia page had been vandalized with false information about a marriage to someone named Jake Hester. Hegerty stated she had no knowledge of this individual and had never met him, despite her brother's playful reaction to the fabricated claim.

Confirming she is single and content, Hegerty also expressed that she would not consider participating in reality dating shows like "Celebs Go Dating." She cited her introverted nature and need for significant personal downtime and solitude as reasons for declining such opportunities.
