Larry Birkhead, the ex-partner of the late model Anna Nicole Smith, has publicly criticized the upcoming biopic "Trust Me, I'm a Doctor," stating that he "absolutely objects" to the film using Smith's life and their daughter Dannielynn's life.

The film, set to be released on October 16, is based on the 2017 book by Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, who was Smith's primary physician. Kapoor was charged with illegally providing Smith with excessive prescription drugs, but he was acquitted in a 2010 trial. Kal Penn is slated to portray Dr. Kapoor in the movie, while Abbie Cornish plays Smith.

Birkhead, who dated Smith from 2003 to 2006 and is the father of their 19-year-old daughter, Dannielynn, told "Entertainment Tonight" that he has attempted to prevent the film's production. He explained that he warned Kapoor and his representatives about the emotional distress such a project could cause to himself and, more importantly, to Dannielynn. "I have yet to see someone who actually embodied the spirit and the looks and the persona of Anna Nicole," Birkhead commented on Cornish's portrayal.

This is not the first time Smith's life has been adapted for screen; a "Law & Order" episode and a 2013 Lifetime movie have previously depicted her story. However, Birkhead believes "Trust Me, I'm a Doctor" is particularly exploitative.

He also revealed that he has taken legal action, filing a complaint with the California Medical Board regarding Dr. Kapoor's involvement in the movie. Birkhead stated he is allowing the process to unfold to see what the board determines.

Regarding his daughter's reaction, Birkhead mentioned that Dannielynn "had some choice words" about her mother's story being used in the film. While he did not elaborate on her specific comments, he emphasized his ongoing role in protecting her, even though she is over 18.

Anna Nicole Smith died of an accidental drug overdose in 2007 at the age of 39.
