Comedian Andy Dick, 60, has been seen in Los Angeles appearing healthy, seven months after a near-fatal overdose. On December 9, Dick was filmed in Hollywood smoking crack cocaine with another man after reportedly slumping over by the sidewalk. His friends intervened and administered multiple doses of Narcan, an opioid overdose antidote, to revive him. He subsequently spent six weeks in a rehabilitation facility in Palm Springs.
Images and reports from Tuesday show Dick with a snowy goatee and white hair, appearing in good spirits and improved physical condition. He was seen grinning and flashing a peace sign while running errands.
In March, Dick disclosed on the "Howie Mandel Does Stuff" podcast that doctors discovered "five to seven holes" in his brain following a CAT scan prompted by the overdose incident. However, his representative clarified that these neural lesions stemmed from a 2019 assault, not the overdose. The representative stated that Dick had been "battling his addictions for years" but is now "healthy, sober and doing great."
Dick's history includes numerous legal issues and arrests related to his struggles with addiction. In 2022, he was convicted of groping an Uber driver and received a 90-day sentence. He has also faced charges for assault and sexual battery in separate incidents.
During the December incident, Dick stated he had encountered a man and decided to smoke crack cocaine with him, noting he "doesn't mind doing a little crack every now and then." He recalled his heart stopping during the overdose, leaving him "purple, not breathing," and remembers waking up in an ambulance. His substance abuse has reportedly impacted his memory.
Dick announced in late January that he had completed nearly 50 days in rehab and was staying at a sober living facility. He has been open about his addiction, previously stating that upon regaining consciousness after the overdose, his first words were, "Where's the vodka?"
