Andrew Garfield, who previously embodied Spider-Man, has voiced his strong support and admiration for Tom Holland's portrayal of the web-slinging superhero. Garfield shared his sentiments exclusively with Page Six at the New York City screening of his new film, "The Magic Faraway Tree," on July 30.

"I think Tom is an incredible actor playing that character, and I love him and support him, and just want the best for him," Garfield stated. He reiterated his lifelong affection for the character, adding, "I love Tom. I love Spider-Man; I always have loved Spider-Man since I was 3 years old."

Garfield, 42, expressed particular enthusiasm for Holland's upcoming movie, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," set to premiere on Friday. "I’m very, very excited to see the film," he said.

Garfield portrayed Peter Parker in "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012) and its 2014 sequel. He was the second actor to play the role for Sony, following Tobey Maguire, who starred in the original trilogy from 2002 to 2007.

Maguire and Garfield reprised their respective Spider-Man roles alongside Holland in Marvel Studios' 2021 film, "Spider-Man: No Way Home." The multiverse-centered movie reunited the three actors, a collaboration Holland described as an "amazing experience."

Reflecting on his return for "No Way Home," Garfield told Esquire that the experience was "honestly the most joyful thing ever." He lightheartedly remarked that while "all the pressure was on Tom," he and Maguire were free to "relax during filming."

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day," the fourth film in the Holland-led series, is scheduled to swing into theaters on July 31. Garfield's latest film, "The Magic Faraway Tree," also starring Claire Foy, is set to premiere on August 21. The movie explores themes of technology fixation and a magical escape from modern distractions.
