A Valentine's Day card penned by Amy Winehouse to her husband Blake Fielder-Civil during his incarceration has sold for £4,940 at auction, exceeding pre-sale estimates. The card, sent in February 2009, was addressed to Fielder-Civil at HMP Edmund's Hill in Suffolk, where he was serving time for a 2006 assault.

The "Rehab" singer, who was on holiday in Saint Lucia at the time she sent the card, wrote a heartfelt message to her husband. The card read: "My husband, my Blake. Virtue is violent, and violets are blue. Blue - bruised is my heart since its beatings' for you. I love you handsome, your Valentine 4 years strong. Your Amy."

The card was sold by Ewbank's auction house in Guildford, which had estimated it would fetch between £2,000 and £4,000. It was presented in a frame alongside a large photograph of the singer.

Winehouse and Fielder-Civil married in Miami in 2007. Their relationship, which lasted six years, was turbulent and inspired some of Winehouse's most famous songs, including those on her seminal album "Back to Black." Fielder-Civil has previously stated that he introduced Winehouse to heroin, a regret he has publicly expressed.

During Fielder-Civil's imprisonment for the 2006 attack, the couple's relationship faced further strain. While he was in jail, Winehouse holidayed in Saint Lucia and was photographed with actor Josh Bowman, which prompted Fielder-Civil to initiate divorce proceedings from behind bars. The divorce was granted in July 2009 and finalized in August of that year. Fielder-Civil later received a £250,000 lump sum from the settlement.
