Amanda Holden described a "magical day" as she was asked to be the godmother to her friend's baby, River Lily, during a solar eclipse viewing. The television and radio personality, 55, shared the news on Instagram, recounting the emotional experience.

The event took place in the garden of her Surrey home, where she had gathered friends and family to watch the celestial phenomenon. River Lily was presented with a baby grow that read "will you be my godmother?", and Holden sported a matching "The Godmother" baseball cap.

"An eclipse overhead, all of us staring up at the sky… and then one of those life moments I’ll never forget — I was asked to become a Godmother to River Lily," Holden wrote on Instagram. "A pretty magical day in the universe, and an even more magical one in mine. Safe to say, I’ll remember 12.08.26 forever."
