Amanda Holden described a "magical day" that culminated in her being asked to become godmother to her friend's baby, River Lily. The TV and radio personality shared the emotional event on Instagram, detailing how the moment occurred while she and friends gathered in her Surrey home's garden to watch a solar eclipse on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
"An eclipse overhead, all of us staring up at the sky… and then one of those life moments I’ll never forget — I was asked to become a Godmother to River Lily," Holden wrote in her post. "A pretty magical day in the universe, and an even more magical one in mine. Safe to say, I’ll remember 12.08.26 forever."
For the occasion, baby River Lily was dressed in a onesie that read "will you be my godmother?", while Holden sported a "The Godmother" baseball cap. She shared photos and video clips from the event, showing her family and friends gathered to observe the eclipse with protective eyewear. The 55-year-old presenter, known for her role on Britain's Got Talent, had been vacationing in Corfu prior to this event.
Earlier in the week, Holden had also shared photos from her summer trip, showcasing herself in swimwear. One post featured her in a white and blue floral bikini from Melissa Odabash during a boat trip. She captioned the images, "Onslaught over!!", referring to her annual tradition of posting swimwear pictures during her holidays.
