Israeli-born director Alma Har’el, known for her acclaimed 2019 debut film "Honey Boy," is developing a new feature titled "Wet." The project is described as an original family drama, drawing comparisons to HBO's "Succession" and Ruben Östlund's "Triangle of Sadness."

Sources indicate that Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem is being considered for a role in the film. Bardem, a vocal critic of Israel's foreign policies, would be collaborating with Har'el, who hails from Tel Aviv. Despite potential perceptions of an unusual pairing, sources suggest the two have found common creative ground.

Fifth Season is reportedly close to signing on as a producer and financier for "Wet," although no deals have been finalized. Har’el had previously been working on an adaptation of Walter Tevis's 1980 novel "Mockingbird," but that project entered turnaround earlier this year, positioning "Wet" as her next priority.

Har'el's directorial debut, "Honey Boy," which she wrote based on Shia LaBeouf's childhood, received significant critical acclaim following its festival run. Bardem, meanwhile, has been a prominent figure in Hollywood for years, earning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "No Country for Old Men."
