Alison Hammond has responded to public commentary regarding her 22-year age gap with boyfriend David Puttnam, stating that the relationship is a private matter. Hammond, 51, has been dating Puttnam, a 28-year-old Russian model and massage therapist, since 2023.
In a recent interview, Hammond suggested that her apparent radiance stems from being happy in her relationship. She described the relationship as effortless, indicating that this ease signifies something special. "He just sees me for who I am. We choose each other, every day," Hammond stated. Regarding the age difference, she remarked, "It's nothing to do with anyone else. Yeah, people are going to talk. People do. But that's their business, not mine."
Hammond also indicated that marriage is not a consideration for the couple. "I don't think [there will be a wedding]. We don't need to! We're both cool," she told The Mirror.
The television personality also discussed her journey toward a healthier lifestyle, which began after a pre-diabetes warning. At her heaviest, Hammond weighed 30 stone. She initiated her transformation five years ago with a personal trainer and a stricter diet. She has since incorporated Reformer Pilates and boxing into her fitness routine, sharing some of her progress online.
Hammond previously told Radio Times about her dietary changes, noting a shift from a "childish mentality to food," particularly concerning toffees, which she now consumes in moderation. She also emphasized the importance of self-care as one ages. Her health kick was significantly influenced by her mother's experience with Type 2 diabetes, prompting her to adopt a more adult approach to her well-being by reducing sweet and fatty foods.
Hammond has found Reformer Pilates beneficial for flexibility, describing it as "brilliant" for her needs. She also participates in early-morning circuit classes. While she is open to trying new fitness practices, she expressed a dislike for cold plunge pools after a brief, uncomfortable experience.
