Episode 7 of Alien: Earth, titled “Emergence,” will premiere Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 8 p.m. ET on FX and will be available to stream on Hulu at the same time.
Last week’s episode advanced several major plotlines: one of the show’s supposedly immortal hybrids met a grisly death, Wendy — played by Sydney Chandler — was infected by a Facehugger, and kindly medic Hermit (Alex Lawther) began carrying out a plan to spirit Wendy out of Neverland. In the laboratory, Kirsh (Timothy Olyphant), the right-hand synth to a powerful industrialist, concealed much of the chaos from his employer. Those developments set the stage for what producers and cast describe as increasingly intense episodes in the second half of the season.
Alien: Earth is an FX original series created by Noah Hawley. Set in 2120, the show imagines the consequences when a Weyland-Yutani–style deep-space research vessel, the USCSS Maginot, that originally discovered the Xenomorphs crashes on Earth. Hawley and the production team expanded the franchise mythology by introducing four additional alien life-forms aboard the Maginot — the Eye Midge, Orchid, Fly and Ticks — alongside the franchise’s established Xenomorphs.
The series features a large ensemble cast including Sydney Chandler as Wendy; Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh; Alex Lawther as Hermit; Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier; Babou Ceesay as Morrow; Adrian Edmondson as Atom Eins; David Rysdahl as Arthur Sylvia; Essie Davis as Dame Sylvia; Lily Newmark as Nibs; Erana James as Curly; Adarsh Gourav as Slightly; Jonathan Ajayi as Smee; Kit Young as Tootles; Diêm Camille as Siberian Moe; Bar-El as Rashidi; and Sandra Yi Sencindiver as Yutani.
Viewers can watch Alien: Earth on FX through traditional cable providers and live-TV streaming services that carry FX, including YouTube TV, Fubo and Sling TV. The series is also available on Hulu. New subscribers to Hulu’s ad-supported plan may be eligible for a 30-day free trial; after the trial, the basic plan is priced at $9.99 per month and the ad-free tier at $18.99 per month. Bundled options with Disney+ and other streaming services are also available.
FX has not announced a renewal for a second season. A trailer for the series is available through FX and the show’s promotional channels.
Producers have used the series to explore familiar Alien franchise elements in a new setting and to introduce additional extraterrestrial species, broadening the scope of the story as the season progresses. Episode 7 will be broadcast at the scheduled times, and viewers are advised to check local listings for variations in start times.
