Alesha Dixon has been announced as the new host of The Voice UK, taking over from Emma Willis. Dixon will be joined by Stacey Solomon to present the popular singing competition.
Dixon's new role was revealed shortly after she performed a celebratory gig with her former Mis-Teeq bandmates, Su-Elise Nash and Sabrina Washington, to mark the 25th anniversary of their debut album. The singer showcased a daring black crop top and a skirt with high side splits during her performance at Ovo Arena, Wembley.
Meanwhile, Emma Willis is set to move to BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, where she will serve as a presenter alongside Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe.
Controversies Surrounding The Voice UK Lineup
The upcoming series of The Voice UK has been marked by controversy, particularly surrounding the departure of long-serving coach Sir Tom Jones. Jones, 86, claimed he was "axed 'last-minute'" by ITV after 13 years on the judging panel, citing financial difficulties with insurance as the reason. ITV, however, stated they "continue to talk to Sir Tom and his team about his involvement in the next series."
New coaches Cheryl and rapper Aitch have joined the panel, replacing McFly members Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher, who also announced their departure. Despite the introduction of new talent, sources suggest an awkward atmosphere on set due to the controversy surrounding Jones' exit. Fellow coach will.i.am is reportedly "furious with how producers have handled things."
Cheryl's return to television after a break following the death of her ex-partner Liam Payne is overshadowed by the dispute, with some suggesting she is being made a "fall guy" for taking Sir Tom's seat. The current series of The Voice UK, filmed in early 2024, has already experienced scheduling delays, and it remains unconfirmed whether Sir Tom Jones will participate in the upcoming live finale.
