Singer Alanis Morissette, 52, has revealed she uses hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to manage menopause symptoms and discussed her views on aging in the entertainment industry. Morissette stated she has "embraced" getting older with "humour" and has relocated from Los Angeles due to the industry's emphasis on maintaining a youthful appearance.
In a recent interview, Morissette described menopause as a "truth serum." She noted that HRT, which replaces hormones the body no longer produces in sufficient amounts, can alleviate symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, and mood swings. Addressing concerns about discontinuing HRT, she remarked, "Who's going off it?!"
Morissette told The Sunday Times Style Magazine that she moved from Los Angeles after struggling with the pressure to appear younger. She described the transition from the "playful maiden" to motherhood as an "archetypal head spinner" and that she is now embracing the "older woman with some 'I know too much' humour."
She expressed support for women making choices that make them feel right, stating, "I have zero judgment. Personally, I do the ouchy facials because, you know, I like collagen, a**holes."
Morissette, who has three children with her husband Mario 'Souleye' Treadway, has previously spoken about the pressures of fame. Following her rise to prominence with the album "Jagged Little Pill" in the 1990s, she discussed her battles with panic attacks, depression, and sex addiction, and the work it took to overcome suicidal thoughts and PTSD. She also recounted that record label executives were initially hesitant to include the hit song "You Oughta Know" on her album due to its intensity.
