Country music legend Alan Jackson is preparing for his retirement concert, "Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale," scheduled for Saturday night at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. The event marks a return to the city where his career began and will feature a star-studded lineup of artists including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Lainey Wilson, Little Big Town, Thomas Rhett, Jake Owen, Jon Pardi, and Lee Ann Womack.
The concert will also be filmed for an NBC primetime special, "Alan Jackson: The Last Show," with streaming available on Peacock the following day.
This farewell performance comes years after Jackson, 67, publicly shared his diagnosis of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease in 2021. This neurological condition, which causes nerve damage, has been affecting him for years. Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is characterized by progressive muscle weakness, often leading to difficulties with walking and a loss of sensation in the legs and feet.
Jackson revealed that he inherited the disease from his father and was initially diagnosed in 2011, keeping the condition private for a decade. He noted that the disease has made his balance increasingly difficult, impacting his stage performances. "I know I’m stumbling around on stage. And now I’m having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone," Jackson shared in 2021. He added that while he continued performing, the growing discomfort and balance issues made him feel "not comfortable" and that the condition "is going to disable me eventually."
Throughout his career, Jackson has achieved 35 Number 1 hits and 50 Top 10 singles, selling over 75 million records worldwide. He is a two-time Grammy Award winner, a 16-time CMA Awards recipient, and has earned 17 ACM Awards. In 2017, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
