Lola Tung, the lead of Amazon Prime Video’s coming-of-age series The Summer I Turned Pretty, has been cast in the feature film Forbidden Fruits as the streaming series concludes its three-season run.

Forbidden Fruits, which also stars Lili Reinhart and Gabrielle Union, centers on a secretive coven of coworkers at a mall store. According to the film’s synopsis, Apple, who leads the shop’s sisterhood with coworkers Cherry and Fig, faces a challenge when new hire Pumpkin begins to question their bonds, forcing the group to confront inner darkness or meet violent ends.

Tung, who portrays Isabel "Belly" Conklin on the television adaptation of Jenny Han’s novels, has been publicly promoting the final season while preparing for the new film project. She attended the grand opening of Crocs’ SoHo store in early August wearing a powder-blue oversized T‑shirt, black painter-style pants and caramel-brown Classic Crafted Clogs. A Crocs spokesperson posted about the appearance on Instagram, saying the company "had the best time" meeting Tung at the event.

The Summer I Turned Pretty, adapted from Han’s 2009 novel and its two sequels, became one of Amazon Prime Video’s highest-profile young-adult dramas. The series follows Belly as she navigates adolescence and a complicated love triangle with brothers Jeremiah, played by Gavin Casalegno, and Conrad, played by Christopher Briney. The program drew passionate fan engagement over its run; Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon and MGM Studios, said the series became an "entertainment phenomenon" and praised Han as a gifted storyteller whose work appealed to a diverse, young audience.

Season three, billed as the series’ final chapter, was structured with a time jump that places the characters about four years beyond the events of season two. The third season comprises 10 episodes, with the first two episodes released on Prime Video on July 16. In publicity appearances ahead of the finale, Tung described the season as an "emotional rollercoaster" that finds the characters in a more mature place. She declined to disclose plot specifics but said she supported her character following her heart, calling herself "Team Belly" in interviews.

Trailer footage for season three shows Conrad seeking advice from Belly’s best friend Taylor as he plans to reenter Belly’s life, underscoring the renewed focus on the series’ central romantic conflict. Season two had ended on a cliffhanger involving Belly’s choice between Jeremiah and Conrad; Tung acknowledged the moment’s significance while avoiding explicit spoilers.

Tung’s casting in Forbidden Fruits signals a transition from television to feature work as the Prime Video series wraps. The film’s premise places Tung amid a darker, supernatural narrative that contrasts with the seaside coming-of-age drama that built her profile. Producers and distributors for Forbidden Fruits have not released a production schedule or release date.

The Summer I Turned Pretty’s three-season arc drew attention for its visual settings at Cousins Beach and for centering a youthful romantic triangle adapted from a bestselling YA trilogy. Han’s original books were published in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Amazon and MGM have noted the series’ ability to attract a broad demographic, calling the show a notable example of programming that resonated across age groups.

As Tung moves toward feature work, she continues to participate in promotional appearances tied to the television series. On The Tonight Show, she discussed the end of the series and her character’s choices, and she wore fashion pieces by John Galliano for Dior and accessories by Panconesi during that appearance. Her public comments and continued visibility reflect both the conclusion of a television chapter and the start of new screen projects.

No additional casting or production details for Forbidden Fruits have been confirmed publicly beyond the principal stars and the film’s synopsis. The Summer I Turned Pretty will conclude this month with the final episodes of season three, closing the adaptation of Jenny Han’s trilogy on Prime Video.
