Adele, despite amassing a net worth of approximately £170 million, maintains frugal habits, according to Paul Drayton, the former husband of comedian Alan Carr. Drayton, who was once close to the singer, recalled her enjoyment of bargain hunting and inexpensive wine in his autobiography, 'Ride Or Die Trying'.

Drayton recounted evenings spent with Adele where the group would share Thai takeaways and inexpensive bottles of wine. He also described introducing the singer to TK Maxx for the first time, where she was reportedly surprised by the available bargains.

Adele, who grew up in Tottenham, has achieved significant financial success, but Drayton's anecdotes suggest she has not forgotten her roots. The singer reportedly officiated Drayton and Carr's wedding in 2018 at her Los Angeles home.

In his book, Drayton also claimed he played a role in Adele meeting her first husband, Simon Konecki. The couple met in 2011 and welcomed their son, Angelo, the following year, before separating in 2018. Adele is now reportedly engaged to sports agent Rich Paul.

Drayton's decision to write his autobiography was partly to address his own well-documented struggles with alcoholism and a drink-driving incident in 2022. He narrowly avoided jail after reversing into a police car with an alcohol test reading described as 'off the scale'. A judge ultimately suspended his sentence, offering him an opportunity to turn his life around. Alan Carr had previously spoken about the difficulties of witnessing his ex-partner's battle with addiction, describing it as watching someone 'kill themselves'.
