A budding actor trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) is currently homeless and fighting his sister in court over his mother's £1.2 million estate. Robert Rajhpaul claims his sister, Precious Rajhpaul, unduly influenced their 88-year-old mother, Milda Rajhpaul, to change her will in the year before she died in 2024, disinheriting him and leaving her entire fortune to her.
The estate includes a family home in Hammersmith, west London, valued at £900,000, as well as disputed cash amounts. Robert alleges his mother lacked the mental capacity to alter her will and that his sister prevented him from seeing their mother, even allegedly disconnecting her phone line. He also claims their mother was cremated against her wishes for a Christian burial.
Precious Rajhpaul is defending the validity of the 2023 will and denies her brother's allegations, with her barrister arguing that Robert's case lacks evidence and has no prospect of success. Robert is also seeking reasonable financial provision from the estate under the Inheritance Act 1975, asserting his dependency on his mother.
During a hearing at Central London County Court, Robert, representing himself, described his current circumstances as "homeless and staying in temporary homeless accommodation" with his dog. He accuses his sister of isolating their mother and starving her in her final years.
Judge Nigel Gerald acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations and advised Robert to secure legal representation. The case has been adjourned to allow him to do so, with the judge stating he will decide at a later date whether the will challenge can proceed to a full trial, warning that the matter is expensive and complex.
