ABC’s freshman drama High Potential will return with new episodes Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 10 p.m. ET, the network announced, after airing three Season 1 episodes in reruns Tuesday night.

The series, created by Drew Goddard and led by Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, follows a former cleaning woman turned police consultant. ABC is reairing Season 1 episodes 11 through 13 — “The Sauna at the End of the Stairs,” “Partners,” and “Let’s Play” — on Sept. 9 ahead of the Season 2 premiere.

Season 2 centers on Morgan’s increasingly personal clash with an enigmatic antagonist billed as the Game Maker, played by David Giuntoli. In the show’s second-season trailer, Morgan says, “That man is a danger to my children. I’m never going to be able to forget his face.” The new run was ordered in January 2025 and will consist of 18 episodes.

The upcoming season expands the cast: Steve Howey joins as the precinct’s new captain and Mekhi Phifer will appear in a recurring guest role, according to network casting notices. New episodes will premiere on ABC and will be available for next-day streaming on Hulu and Disney+.

High Potential debuted this year and became one of ABC’s notable freshman dramas. Olson’s character, a consultant whose background as a cleaning professional provides an unconventional investigative perspective, anchors the show’s mix of procedural elements and serialized mystery. The Game Maker storyline appears to drive the stakes higher in Season 2, positioning the villain as a direct threat to Morgan’s family.

The first season is currently available to stream on Hulu, ABC.com and Disney+. Viewers who want to catch up before the Sept. 16 premiere can watch the full Season 1 library on those platforms.

ABC has scheduled High Potential in the 10 p.m. Tuesday slot for its return; the network has not announced supplemental programming plans tied to the launch beyond the rerun block on Sept. 9. Disney-owned streaming platforms will host next-day episodes, consistent with the network’s recent practice of offering same-week streaming access for broadcast premieres.
