The new animated movie, "Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender," places the titular hero Aang in his early to mid-twenties, a significant jump from his teenage years in the original series. Co-creator Bryan Konietzko stated that the film is set "a decade after the end of the 100-year war," during which Aang was 13.

This timeline suggests Aang is around 23 years old. However, Konietzko also described Aang as being around 25, characterizing him as "at this precipice between adolescence and adulthood." This age estimation places Aang between 23 and 25 years old in the new film. Consequently, characters like Sokka and Zuko, who are older than Aang, would be in their late twenties, while Katara would be in her mid-twenties.

The movie follows an adult Aang, voiced by Eric Nam, who discovers a newly found Airbender named Tagah, voiced by Dave Bautista. Tagah reveals a method to restore the Air Nomads, provided Aang can locate a magical staff. Aang reunites with Team Avatar, including Katara (Jessica Matten), Sokka (Román Zaragoza), Toph (Dionne Quan), and Fire Lord Zuko (Steven Yeun), for this new adventure.

The film serves as a sequel to "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and a prequel to "The Legend of Korra," which features Aang's successor. Fans have noted the narrative's focus on Aang's concerns about the dwindling Air Nomad population, contrasting it with his eventual parenthood in "The Legend of Korra."

Information from "The Legend of Korra" indicates that Tenzin, Aang and Katara's youngest child, is 51 in Season 1, and Katara was 34 when she gave birth to him. This suggests Aang and Katara had their children later in life. Based on the timeline of the new movie, Katara, at 25 to 27 years old, is not yet pregnant with their first child, Bumi, nor is the possibility of their children discussed within the film. This has led to speculation among fans regarding the timing of their family's conception.
