The upcoming wedding of "90 Day Fiancé" stars Paula and Thomas is in doubt following a volatile argument that occurred just one day before they were set to tie the knot. Paula, 41, has expressed severe doubts about their compatibility and the future of their relationship, culminating in a dramatic declaration that she "can't" go through with the ceremony.
Paula, who moved from Brazil to Long Beach, California, to be with Thomas, 31, has struggled to adapt to his lifestyle. The tension has been exacerbated by the presence of Paula's family, all eight of whom are staying in Thomas's small apartment for the wedding.
The latest conflict arose during what was intended to be a romantic dinner. The argument began when Thomas insisted they ride his bicycle to the restaurant to save money on parking, a decision Paula found uncomfortable and disruptive, especially in her wedding attire. She expressed frustration, stating, "Sometimes I don’t think you are mature enough." Paula later elaborated that her ruined hair and makeup, along with her discomfort on the bike, made the money-saving effort seem trivial.
Thomas, however, accused Paula of not being willing to compromise and of being overly focused on "consumerism." He suggested her "natural instincts" were to take the "easiest knee-jerk reaction."
The disagreement escalated when Paula revealed her desire to return to Brazil with her visiting family, citing it as an "easy" option. This revelation deeply upset Thomas, who stated he had hoped to hear about her excitement to marry him, not her considering a departure. He questioned if they should still proceed with the wedding.
A visibly emotional Paula eventually told Thomas, "I can't, I can't. This is too much." She later confided to cameras, "I love Tom, but the problem is being stuck unhappy, being stuck in a situation that I don’t want to be." In a moment of extreme frustration, Paula cursed at Thomas in Portuguese, calling him "so annoying" and "a son of a bitch."
"90 Day Fiancé" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
