Max Alexander, a 10-year-old fashion designer, has become known as a prodigy in the fashion world, designing for celebrities and amassing millions of social media followers. He began designing dresses at the age of 4 and launched his own fashion label at 5, making him the youngest person to ever design a runway show. During New York Fashion Week, Alexander is set to launch a sustainable fabric collection and attempt to break two more Guinness World Records.
Alexander's creations have caught the attention of notable figures, including Sharon Stone, Debra Messing, and Coco Rocha, for whom he has designed custom garments. His mother manages his social media presence, where he has accumulated 16 million followers, though he himself is not permitted to use social media. His celebrity clientele and unique approach to design have led to features in publications like Vogue.
He operates two labels, Max Alexander and Couture To The Max, offering items ranging from charms to dresses. Alexander's designs often incorporate sustainable and recycled materials, a focus he emphasizes in his work. He has previously used unconventional materials such as upcycled Tiffany bags, coffee bean sacks, and military parachutes.
Alexander already holds two Guinness World Records: for being the youngest person to design a runway show at age 7, and for being the youngest runway show designer at Paris Fashion Week at age 10. This week, he is attempting to set records for fastest sewing machine threader and youngest person to have a fabric line.
The young designer draws inspiration from fashion houses like Dior and contemporary designers such as Pamella Roland. His career has also been the subject of a documentary that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June. Alexander, who is from Los Angeles, is planning to pursue higher education at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
