Rockstar Games, the creator of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, has stated that employees were terminated for gross misconduct involving the dissemination of confidential company information, refuting claims that the dismissals were linked to trade union membership or activities.

The company's position has been "clear and consistent," a spokesperson said. Individuals in the UK and Canada were dismissed following the sharing of sensitive company data, not due to alleged union involvement.

Rockstar Games "rejects the claims and will defend them vigorously before the tribunal," the spokesperson added. The legal proceedings are ongoing before judge Lucy Wiseman.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is slated for release on November 19, with pre-orders already generating significant revenue. The game, which will feature Lucia as the series' first playable female protagonist, was previously delayed from its initial autumn 2025 and May 2026 release targets. The previous installment, Grand Theft Auto 5, released in September 2013, became one of the best-selling video games of all time.
