In-N-Out Burger is looking to open a new restaurant in Ontario, California, with plans submitted in April to the city for a location at the southwest corner of Riverside Drive and Archibald Avenue. The proposal includes tearing down an existing 18,175-square-foot commercial building, formerly occupied by Rite Aid, to construct a new 3,887-square-foot In-N-Out outpost.

Central to the design are plans for a drive-thru with two lanes, intended to accommodate the chain's well-known long queues. The project is currently awaiting approval from the Ontario Planning Commission, and no specific timeline for construction or a potential opening date has been established.

The prospect of a new In-N-Out location has generated discussion among residents. Comments shared on social media indicate a divided public reaction, with some expressing concerns about increased traffic at an already busy intersection. Others welcome the potential addition, suggesting it would offer a needed dining option, particularly near local sports facilities, and could benefit neighboring businesses.

This proposed Ontario restaurant is part of In-N-Out's ongoing expansion. The chain is also developing new locations within California, including a spot in Irvine's "The Canopy" retail and dining destination, and others in Commerce and Stockton. Additionally, new In-N-Out restaurants are planned for Arizona in San Tan Valley, Utah in St. George, and Idaho in Twin Falls, with the east Bakersfield location slated to open in 2027.
