Dutch Bros Coffee is expanding its reach in Southern California with plans to open a new location in Lomita. The announcement was made by the city of Lomita this week, marking another step in the coffee chain's rapid growth across the region.
The new franchise will be situated at the southeast corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Cypress Street. Plans for the location include a three-lane drive-thru, one drive-thru window, and a walk-up window. The city has stated that Dutch Bros has collaborated with them to address potential concerns regarding traffic, safety, and construction site management, a common consideration for the brand known for attracting significant customer volume.
This expansion into Lomita follows Dutch Bros' debut in the Los Angeles area with its first location near the USC campus on S. Figueroa St. in November 2025. Regional operator Brady Benner expressed enthusiasm for bringing the brand to Los Angeles, emphasizing a mission to positively impact the community.
Founded in 1992 by brothers Travis and Dane Boersma in Oregon, Dutch Bros Coffee is now headquartered in Tempe, Arizona. The company went public in 2021 and has since grown to over 1,200 locations nationwide. California represents the brand's largest market, boasting 255 locations. In addition to its brick-and-mortar drive-thrus, Dutch Bros also offers its coffee products for retail sale.
The development has been met with enthusiasm from local residents who anticipate the convenience of a closer location. The company is known for its customizable specialty drinks and has built a reputation for its distinctive service model.
