A cyberattack has led to significant food spoilage in dozens of supermarkets across seven European countries, with refrigeration and freezer systems being the primary targets.
The incident resulted in the discarding of vast amounts of food, including frozen pizzas and ice cream. In Hoeilaart, Belgium, a Delhaize supermarket branch estimated its losses to be over €100,000 (approximately £83,500) due to the spoiled inventory.
Belgium and Luxembourg experienced some of the most severe damage, with 40 Delhaize supermarkets affected. Similar incidents were reported in stores across Sweden, Ireland, the Netherlands, Estonia, and Finland.
