A Chick-fil-A restaurant located at 2040 N. Rose Ave. in Oxnard, California, is slated to close by December 31, according to a WARN notice filed by the restaurant's operator, Worthy Integrated Holdings LLC.

The closure will result in the loss of 87 jobs. Following this closure, only one other Chick-fil-A location will remain open in Oxnard. The affected location is situated near the 101 highway, across from a Raising Cane's restaurant that opened in 2019.

California's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act requires employers with 75 or more employees to provide a 60-day written notice before a facility closure.

The New York Post has reported that Chick-fil-A operates under a unique owner-operator franchise model. In this model, the company owns the real estate and equipment, while franchisees independently manage the restaurants. The selection process for these franchisees is highly competitive, with approximately 100,000 applicants annually vying for around 200 chosen spots. The franchise fee has remained $10,000 for the past 50 years, and operators cannot pass down their businesses to their children; instead, the businesses return to Chick-fil-A upon retirement.

The Atlanta-based company has over 200 locations in California and more than 3,000 worldwide. Recently, Chick-fil-A announced the upcoming nationwide availability of a new spicy version of its signature sauce, set to launch in dipping cups and 8-ounce squeeze bottles on November 16.
