Breeze Airways is rapidly expanding its flight offerings, launching six new nonstop routes to fill the void left by the collapse of Spirit Airlines. The low-cost carrier is aiming to reconnect travelers to routes previously served by Spirit, including popular vacation spots in the Caribbean.
Starting February 9, 2027, travelers in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, will have direct access to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This route, along with a nonstop flight to Orlando scheduled for May 26, 2027, will be exclusive to Breeze from Latrobe, as Spirit's cessation of operations left these routes orphaned.
Further expanding its reach, Breeze will offer direct flights from Tampa to Montego Bay, Jamaica, beginning December 19, 2026, and to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on June 18, 2027. These additions build upon Breeze's existing services in the Caribbean, with new routes also planned for Cancun, Mexico, starting December 19, 2026, and to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands on December 16, 2026.
In the Carolinas, Breeze is introducing three new nonstop routes from Buffalo, New York: to Raleigh-Durham on June 29, 2027, to Myrtle Beach on July 1, 2027, and to Charleston on July 2, 2027. The Buffalo-Raleigh-Durham route will replace a service previously offered by Frontier Airlines, while the Myrtle Beach and Charleston routes are expected to be the sole nonstop options from Buffalo.
Breeze Airways, founded by JetBlue founder David Neeleman, focuses on providing nonstop service between underserved cities. Spirit Airlines ceased operations on May 2, 2026, after experiencing financial difficulties and filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy multiple times. Breeze, headquartered in Utah, began operations in May 2021 and has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing airlines in the United States. The airline currently operates over 300 year-round and seasonal routes to 95 cities across North America and the Caribbean using an Airbus A220-300 fleet.
