Women Protest Murders Near Johannesburg

Runners gathered in South Africa to pay tribute to Elizabeth Moselakgomo, whose body was discovered east of Johannesburg. Moselakgomo is one of nine women found in the Kempton Park area since July.

The jogger, known as "Tsontso," reportedly went missing during a routine run. In response to the killings, runners organized an event in the city of Centurion to honor Moselakgomo and advocate for women's right to run without fear. "This is for her - we just want to live and go running and come back home without having to think that it may be one of us," said Nonhle Mpohlo, an organizer.

Meanwhile, in Cape Town, participants gathered for a vigil to honor the victims, calling on the government to take decisive action. The South African police have established a task team to investigate the murders. Authorities have also advised women in the Kempton Park area to exercise caution, urging them to avoid walking or running alone, particularly in isolated areas.
