Woman Tasered After Stabbing Man on Busy Sydney Street

A man has been hospitalized after a woman allegedly stabbed him on a busy Sydney shopping strip before police Tasered the suspect. Emergency services were called to King Street in Newtown around 11:40 a.m. on Monday following reports of an assault.

Officers arrived to find a 48-year-old man who had sustained a stab wound to the hand from a woman unknown to him. According to a source, the alleged attacker took a knife from a hardware store and began threatening people and vehicles before stabbing the man outside a restaurant.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital, where he remains in a stable condition. Police initiated a search of the vicinity and located a 27-year-old woman nearby, who was reportedly in possession of a knife.

Authorities commanded the woman to drop the weapon, but she allegedly refused. A Taser was deployed, and the woman was taken into custody. She was transported to Newtown Police Station, and investigations into the incident are ongoing. A crime scene has been established on King Street, and police are urging motorists to avoid the area as the section between Church Street and Wilson Street remains closed.
