This incident follows a similar event in 2024, where a teenage girl jumped from a shopping center in Yokohama and landed on another woman, resulting in both their deaths. The high school student jumped from the 12th floor deck of the NEWoMan Yokohama shopping center, striking a 32-year-old woman below. Both victims were taken to the hospital, where the girl died an hour later and the woman died shortly after.
In the 2024 incident, the deceased teenage girl resided in Kimitsu City, Chiba Prefecture, and the woman was a company employee living in Midori Ward, Yokohama. The area was reportedly crowded with shoppers at the time of the incident.
