A homicide investigation is underway after a 35-year-old woman was found dead in the backyard of a home in Melbourne's south-east on Sunday. Emergency services were called to the Sunnybank Way address in Pakenham shortly after 8 a.m. following reports of screams.
Despite efforts to revive her, the woman died at the scene. A man present at the residence was taken to a local hospital and has since been interviewed by police. Authorities have stated that no arrests or charges have been made as they await the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Homicide detectives, local police, and forensic officers were present at the home for much of Sunday. Police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist their investigation.
