A woman walking her dog in a wooded area in Canada recently found herself stalked by a large bear, according to a viral video she shot on her phone. The encounter occurred while she was on a short walk near where she was camping.
Despite the woman repeatedly shouting “No! Go away” and making loud noises to scare the animal, it continued to follow her down the road. After initially moving slowly toward her, the bear suddenly began to charge, circling her as she backed away and urged it to leave. For nearly two minutes, the bear repeatedly charged and retreated, rearing up on its hind legs several times.
The woman was able to distract the bear by throwing her water bottle behind a gate, allowing her to escape as the animal investigated the object. The video concludes as she quickly moves away from the area.
Experts advise against running from a bear, as it can trigger predatory instincts. Bears are capable of running at speeds up to 35 mph, significantly faster than humans.
