Human bones have been unearthed at Bedfont Lakes Country Park in Hounslow, west London, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Police. Officers were called to the park on Wednesday, August 12, following reports of discovered bones, which were subsequently confirmed to be human.
The discovery comes after recent wildfires in the area. The London Fire Brigade tackled at least two blazes at the park last month. Residents have suggested that the fires, which can burn away topsoil and reveal objects hidden beneath, may have been responsible for unearthing the remains. The age and identity of the bones are currently unknown, and further testing is underway.
A crime scene remains in place at the park as the investigation continues. Police stated that the circumstances surrounding the discovery are being investigated, and efforts are being made to ascertain the origin of the bones, which could be historical or modern.
