A 63-year-old British woman has been handed an 18-month suspended prison sentence for assaulting her husband, in an incident where she smeared feces into his mouth. Alison Moore attacked her husband at their farmhouse in Damerham, New Forest, during an argument that began at a pub.
According to the prosecution, Moore pushed her husband onto their bed and, while accusing him of not defending her at the pub and calling him "boring," she smeared excrement on his face. The victim managed to break free, clean himself, and took a photograph of the assault, which was presented to the court. Police were called, and Moore was arrested.
Southampton Crown Court heard that Moore subjected her husband to "several violent attacks over a lengthy period." His victim impact statement was not read in open court, and he reportedly did not support a restraining order. The court heard of prior incidents, including alleged assaults with a broom handle and a wedding ring in March 2024 and August 2026, with photographs showing injuries to his eye and back.
Moore's defense stated she regretted her actions and took full blame, attributing her behavior to a "perception of an imbalance in the relationship" and a "lack of self-control." The court was informed of recent personal tragedies, including the deaths of her parents, sister, and uncle, as well as her dog, contributing to depression and a feeling of being "trapped and frustrated." Her defense also mentioned her husband controlled finances and she wished to sell their property, which he opposed. Moore had sought private mental health care and treatment for depression.
Moore had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Judge Gary Lucie noted the "gratuitous degradation" of the victim and acknowledged Moore's difficult personal circumstances, but stated they did not excuse her behavior. He also commented on her apparent struggles with alcohol.
Moore, who had spent three weeks on remand, was handed the suspended sentence and walked out of court with her husband. She is understood to be living in an Airbnb in Dorset. Her past convictions include driving with excess alcohol, assault by beating, and using violence to secure entry to premises, for which she previously received a restraining order and rehabilitation activity.
