An undercover investigation by the Daily Mail has highlighted significant safety concerns on the London Underground. Reporter Mimi Yates traveled across the city's transport network at various times of day and night, secretly filming her experiences as a young woman alone.

During four journeys as part of the 'Underground: UK' series, Yates reported being verbally sexually harassed approximately eight times and physically assaulted once. These incidents occurred during both day and night travel.

The findings echo a March report by the London Assembly, which described "unacceptable" levels of violence against women and girls on the capital's public transport system. The Daily Mail's investigation aims to uncover hidden stories affecting young people.

In a related poll conducted by the publication, readers were asked about their sense of safety on the Underground. This follows a separate poll concerning a defense plan proposed by Keir Starmer, in which 98 percent of over 6,000 respondents indicated it was insufficient to protect Britain.
