Ukrainian Man Arrested After Monastery Stabbing in Poland
At least five people were injured, with three priests in critical condition, following an attack at a Benedictine Sisters abbey.
Polish authorities have arrested a 31-year-old Ukrainian man in connection with a stabbing incident at the Abbey of Benedictine Sisters in Jarosław.
The attack occurred around 9:30 a.m. local time and resulted in five individuals being injured. Three of the victims, who are priests, sustained life-threatening injuries and have been hospitalized. The other two injured individuals, a man and a woman, were also taken to the hospital.
Local media reports indicated that one of the injured men had died, but police have not yet confirmed this information.
Police are actively investigating the incident at the scene. Staff Sergeant Anna Długosz stated that witnesses are being questioned and an inspection is underway to determine the full circumstances.
In response to the attack, local officials advised schools and other institutions in Jarosław to increase vigilance and monitor who enters their buildings. The mayor of Jarosław, Marcin Nazarewicz, informed schools in the town to keep children indoors.
