Much of the UK is expected to experience cooler temperatures starting Tuesday, with the arrival of more unsettled weather. The northern and western parts of the country are particularly likely to see periods of rain throughout the week.

This shift follows a period of warmer weather, with some areas in central and southeastern England beginning Tuesday warm and muggy before the cooler air moves south. A cold front is expected to bring rain across England and Wales for a time. Fresher north-westerly winds will develop, bringing showers, some of which could be heavy, to Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northwestern parts of England and Wales. Maximum temperatures are predicted to be around five degrees Celsius lower than Monday's figures, ranging from 17 to 22 degrees Celsius across the UK, bringing conditions closer to the seasonal average.

The forecast suggests the unsettled weather with further rain spells will continue for the remainder of the week. Looking ahead to next week, conditions could become more settled with temperatures potentially rising above average in some regions, although widespread heatwave conditions are considered unlikely.
