The mother of a British TikTok influencer is pleading for her daughter to be spared execution by firing squad in Dubai, where she faces the death penalty for allegedly killing her boyfriend. Brooke George, 23, is accused of stabbing William Treeby, 26, to death, an act her legal team claims was in self-defense.
George, who has approximately 100,000 followers on TikTok and hails from Kent, England, is reportedly being held in a crowded cell with nine other women. Her mother, Tess George, 55, told The Sun that her daughter is terrified and vulnerable, begging authorities not to let her face the firing squad.
Detained in Dubai, an organization supporting George, stated that she met Treeby online in April and had visited him in Dubai before the alleged fatal incident. During her second visit, Treeby reportedly became increasingly controlling and abusive. Her concerns grew when she discovered he had only booked her a one-way ticket, the organization said.
According to Detained in Dubai, the altercation occurred after an evening out when an intoxicated Treeby allegedly assaulted George in their car. The dispute continued upon their return to their apartment. George’s family reported that she initially sounded fine when calling home, but later expressed a desire to return to the UK, appearing jittery and withdrawn.
George claims Treeby repeatedly punched her and took her passport. She stated that she feared for her life and grabbed a kitchen knife within reach, acting in self-defense. Following the incident, she was stopped at the airport, allegedly showing visible bruising and injuries. Detained in Dubai claims the investigation was not fully completed before charges were pressed.
The organization also alleged that George was subjected to a strip search by male officers without any female officers present, describing the experience as humiliating and distressing.
In the United Arab Emirates, the penalty for premeditated murder can be death by firing squad or life imprisonment without parole. The UK Foreign Office confirmed it is in contact with a British woman detained in the UAE and is providing support to her family while liaising with local authorities.
