UK Charges First Suspect in Rwanda Genocide Case

The Crown Prosecution Service has brought the first charges in the United Kingdom related to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. A Rwandan man, identified as Dr. Vincent Brown, formerly known as Dr. Vincent Bajinya, 65, who resides in north London, faces seven offenses.
Dr. Brown has been charged with one count of conduct ancillary to genocide and six counts of conduct ancillary to murder as a crime against humanity. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
This development signifies a significant step in the UK's efforts to prosecute individuals accused of involvement in the genocide, which resulted in the deaths of an estimated 800,000 people, primarily Tutsis, over 100 days in 1994.
