A joint investigation between the UK and Nigeria has led to charges against two individuals for international drug trafficking offenses. The arrests followed the seizure of over 180 kilograms (397 pounds) of cocaine in the United Kingdom on August 5.

Oladipupo Atandare, 50, and Latifat Yusuf, 44, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates Court on August 8 and were subsequently remanded in custody. Their next court appearance is scheduled for September 7 at Snaresbrook Crown Court. The Metropolitan Police stated that the arrests are directly linked to the UK cocaine seizure, though inquiries are ongoing regarding a similarly sized cocaine discovery in Nigeria.

Nigerian authorities announced on Tuesday that they had intercepted 184.5 kilograms of cocaine, estimated to be worth approximately £20 million, at a courier facility in Lagos. The illicit substance was found concealed within brown boxes. This seizure in Nigeria has also resulted in a series of arrests, including an employee of a logistics company and a social media influencer with a substantial following.
