The United Kingdom and the European Union have reached a draft agreement to eliminate post-Brexit checks, according to a BBC report. The text, reportedly 200 pages long, outlines what is referred to as a "SPS" (sanitary and phytosanitary) agreement.
Details of the draft deal are expected to be discussed at an upcoming UK-EU summit later this month. The agreement comes as UK economics editor Faisal Islam joined Adam Fleming on the BBC's daily news podcast, Newscast, to discuss the potential implications of the text. Separately, BBC political editor Chris Mason reported from Antigua on discussions around a "debt reset" for Commonwealth countries at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). Mason also addressed the fallout from Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood's revised migration plans.
Newscast episodes are released daily and are available for over a year. The program is produced by Anna Harris, with contributions from Cordelia Hemming and Gabriel Purcell-Davis. Joe Wilkinson serves as social producer, Jonny Hall as technical producer, and Chris Gray as assistant editor, with Sam Bonham as senior news editor.
