Ugandan General Claims Arrest of Serial Cannibal Who Murdered 38 Over 15 Years

Soldiers in Uganda have apprehended an alleged serial killer and cannibal, Mujurizi Moses, who is accused of murdering and consuming at least 38 people over a 15-year period, according to Uganda’s defense chief General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Kainerugaba, on Monday, described Mujurizi as the “worst serial killer and cannibal in Uganda’s history” and alleged that he devoured body parts of dozens of victims between 2010 and 2025. Authorities claim the machete-wielding suspect operated as a contract killer and would butcher entire families after breaking into their homes.

Reports indicate that Mujurizi also allegedly lured women into romantic relationships before murdering them. The accused is reported to have killed a pastor and his family, a witchdoctor, eight of his own relatives, and an elderly woman who was killed in front of her grandchildren.

"We will try him in public, and definitely execute him," Kainerugaba stated on the social media platform X.

Mujurizi's alleged crime spree may extend beyond the 38 victims, as he reportedly confessed to 17 additional murders when he was arrested in 2009. However, he allegedly escaped custody at that time after bribing officials. He was reportedly arrested three more times in subsequent years, only to evade capture and continue his alleged violent activities, sometimes with accomplices, and often targeting individuals who might report him.

His most recent alleged victims include nine members of a rural church and a 52-year-old villager. The latter was reportedly killed with a machete after Mujurizi broke into her home, though her two grandchildren were left unharmed.

Moses Mujurizi was pictured in handcuffs on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
