Ugandan Authorities Arrest Suspected Cannibal Accused of 38 Murders

Ugandan authorities have arrested Mujurizi Moses, a suspect accused of killing and consuming at least 38 people over a 15-year period. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, chief of defense forces in Uganda, described Moses as the worst serial killer and cannibal in the country's history and pledged that he would face a public trial and execution.

Moses is suspected of carrying out the killings between 2010 and 2025 in the Masaka, Ibanda, and Kazo regions. Investigators allege that Moses targeted entire families, breaking into their homes and killing them with a machete, sometimes after drilling through walls. One of his alleged victims was identified as Pentecostal pastor Steven Mugambe.

The allegations surfaced after Ugandan citizens reported to the police that Moses had murdered their relatives. According to reports, 35 similar killings occurred in Greater Masaka in southern Uganda. Despite being apprehended by authorities multiple times, Moses is said to have either escaped or been released under unclear circumstances.

In a separate incident on September 28, a woman was killed in Greater Masaka after being lured with the promise of a relationship, leading to charges of murder and human trafficking against the suspect. Ugandan authorities are currently investigating cold cases of missing persons to determine if they are linked to Moses.

He is alleged to have killed and eaten 38 people over this 15-year period and could now face the death penalty
