Authorities in eastern China have closed schools and tourist sites as Typhoon Dolphin moves toward the coast. The storm is projected to make landfall late Sunday in Zhejiang province and the northern part of neighboring Fujian province, with Shanghai also in its projected path.

At its strongest, Typhoon Dolphin's sustained winds were measured at approximately 162 kilometers per hour (101 mph). Forecasters anticipate the typhoon will bring heavy rainfall, increasing the potential for severe flooding and landslides.

In response to the impending storm, national authorities have implemented a level III emergency response, the second lowest on their scale. Many tourist destinations in Zhejiang province are closed on Saturday and Sunday, along with all water-based activities, including ferries and cruises. The city of Ningbo, a major urban center in Zhejiang, has ordered all schools and educational institutions to remain closed throughout the weekend.
