Tropical Storm Fay Forms in Northern Atlantic, No Land Threat

Tropical Storm Fay formed early Sunday in the northern Atlantic Ocean, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). The storm is situated approximately 450 miles (730 kilometers) southwest of the Azores, an autonomous region of Portugal.

As of Sunday morning, Fay had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph (75 kph) and was moving north-northeast at 5 mph (7 kph). The NHC anticipates additional strengthening in the short term. No coastal watches or warnings are in effect, and the storm does not currently pose a threat to any landmasses.
