A beach bar on the popular Greek island of Mykonos has been accused of overcharging customers and employing aggressive sales tactics, according to recent online reviews. DK Oyster, located on Platis Gialos beach, which markets itself as a luxury establishment, has drawn a barrage of criticism from tourists who describe experiences of being 'ripped off' and encountering 'rude' staff.

Recent reviews on Tripadvisor paint a picture of dismay, with some visitors claiming they were charged exorbitant prices for drinks and food. One reviewer stated they were charged a "whopping €50" for a single cocktail, while another reported paying €60 for a cocktail and €25 for a beer. Several customers have warned potential visitors to "do NOT go here, you will get ripped off."

Beyond the high prices, patrons have also cited issues with staff conduct. Allegations include staff being "untrustworthy," "pushy," and engaging in what some describe as "high-pressure" sales. One review detailed an incident where a staff member allegedly asked for a cash tip on top of a €150 drink bill, and then added a tip to the card payment despite the refusal. Another diner described the atmosphere as having "people around us were shaking their heads at how bad the atmosphere was."

DK Oyster has a significant number of reviews on Tripadvisor, with an average rating of 2.1 out of five stars. Some reviews indicate that prices may be higher than what is advertised on online menus, with one customer claiming they were charged double or triple the listed price. The establishment itself is described as a luxury restaurant and beach club, featuring sunbeds and seaside views.

This is not the first time DK Oyster has faced such accusations. Last year, a tourist reported a bill of €1,000 for three dishes, including a €350 charge for a single piece of fish. Another former customer, who goes by the name Sue, alleged being charged €400 for a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, including €35 for a Coca-Cola, and reported an unrequested drink being added to their bill. Amrita, a visitor in June 2024, claimed she was charged €400 for a fish that weighed over 1kg, stating the weight-based pricing was not clearly explained beforehand. Gabriela accused the bar of "theft," reporting being convinced to order €35 beers and then being presented with a bill quickly.

One visitor advised future patrons to "avoid at all costs," detailing charges for lunch, sunbeds, two bottles of water, a Diet Coke, ketchup, and small fries that accumulated to a significant sum. The Daily Mail has approached DK Oyster for comment on these allegations.
