A small tourist plane carrying 13 people crashed on Saturday while flying over the Nazca Lines archaeological site in southern Peru, killing everyone on board. Peruvian officials confirmed the fatalities, stating there were no survivors.

The aircraft, which had departed from an airport in Pisco, Peru, went down around 1 p.m. local time in the Pueblo Viejo region. Police Major Jorge Andrade stated that four bodies had been recovered so far due to the severity of the accident.

The cause of the crash and the identities of the passengers have not yet been determined. The Nazca Lines, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a popular tourist destination known for its ancient geoglyphs etched into the desert sand.

This is not the first fatal aircraft incident over the Nazca Lines in recent years. In 2022, seven people died when another tourist plane crashed at the site. Additionally, six people were killed in a similar crash in 2010.
