A helicopter crashed on Wednesday in Kenya's Samburu county, the aviation authority confirmed, with local media reporting that tourists were believed to be on board.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson stated the helicopter was en route to the Ewaso Nyiro river, which flows through the Samburu National Reserve.

The Star, a local newspaper, reported that seven tourists were on board the helicopter. Police informed the paper that their nationalities were not yet known. The aviation authority spokesperson declined to specify the number of people on board or confirm if they were tourists.

However, an aviation source told AFP that there were no survivors of the crash.
