Three people have been hospitalized following an incident involving a small fire and a crowd crush at the Ghana Party in the Park festival in London. The event was subsequently ended early, and attendees were dispersed without further issues.
Metropolitan Police were called to the festival following reports of crushing near the entrance. A small fire on the site prompted organizers to temporarily close the gates. As a crowd built up, a surge occurred when the gates were reopened.
Officers responded to the scene and, in collaboration with event organizers, established a barrier to manage the surging crowds and assist individuals on the ground. Emergency services and the event's medical team provided initial medical assistance, including CPR, to those affected. A total of 23 people received some form of aid. Nine individuals were assessed by the London Ambulance Service, with three requiring transport to a hospital. Their conditions have been confirmed as non-life-threatening.
Organizers of the Ghana Party in the Park described the day as "difficult" and "deeply upsetting."
