Three Britons Arrested in Spain Following Shooting Linked to Drug Gang Dispute
Authorities apprehended three British nationals in Alicante after a man was shot multiple times in a suspected drug-related incident on the Costa del Sol.
Spanish police have arrested three British citizens in Alicante in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on the Costa del Sol. The victim, a 31-year-old man, was shot four times in the chest and legs during what is understood to be a dispute between drug gangs.
The shooting took place in a car park near the Andalucía Beach residential complex on July 28. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots around 5:30 p.m., and described the perpetrators as wearing hoods to conceal their identities. Following the attack, the assailants fled the scene in a vehicle with foreign license plates.
Bar staff from a nearby establishment provided initial aid to the injured man before he was transported to the Costa del Sol University Hospital in Marbella. The victim, identified as a Lithuanian national, is reportedly in stable condition.
Two of the British nationals were apprehended near La Zenia, Murcia, and have been placed in preventive detention. They face charges that include attempted murder. The third British national arrested in connection with the incident was released on bail while the investigation continues.
Spanish authorities have conducted searches of properties in the town approximately 37 miles east of Murcia as they continue a manhunt for individuals believed to be involved in the shooting. The arrests follow a broader police operation targeting synthetic drug trafficking on the Costa del Sol, during which three other British nationals, including two minors, were previously arrested in Marbella after weapons and drugs were seized.
